Guadalajara Stadium
Estadio Guadalajara is confirmed for four group-stage matches at the 2026 World Cup. Its schedule includes South Korea v Czechia, Mexico v South Korea, Colombia v DR Congo, and Uruguay v Spain, but no confirmed knockout match.
Estadio Akron is located in Zapopan, part of the Guadalajara metropolitan area, and brings one of Mexico's most visually distinctive venues into the 2026 World Cup. The stadium is famous for an exterior designed to resemble an erupting volcano, with much of the bowl embedded into a grass-covered artificial hill and a circular roof rising above it. Usually home to CD Guadalajara, it carries the identity of one of Mexico's most historic clubs into the global tournament. Although it is smaller than Mexico City Stadium and Estadio BBVA, its design gives the venue a memorable sense of place. For travelling fans, Guadalajara offers a football-rich city, Mexican cultural heritage, and a stadium that looks unlike any other 2026 host venue.
Opened in 2010, Estadio Akron quickly became central to the modern identity of CD Guadalajara. One of its earliest headline matches was a friendly between Chivas and Manchester United, when Javier Chicharito Hernandez scored for his boyhood club before joining United. The stadium has also hosted major non-football events, including a 2023 boxing night featuring Canelo Alvarez in front of a huge local crowd. Its volcanic design has made it one of the most recognizable contemporary stadiums in Mexico.
